The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced the 2008 organization's Division I Outdoor Track and Field National Athletes and Coaches of the Year. Both national championship team head coaches, Bob Braman of Florida State and Dennis Shaver of Louisiana State were honored for their achievements throughout the course of the 2008 outdoor season. Both Braman’s and Shaver’s teams won conference and regional titles prior to the national title. The coaches being honored are Bob Braman (Men’s Head Coach of the Year), Dennis Shaver (Women’s Head Coach of the Year), Jerry Clayton (Men’s Assistant Coach of the Year) and Vince Anderson (Women’s Assistant Coach of the Year). The athletes being named are Richard Thompson (Men’s Track Athlete of the Year), Cory Martin (Men’s Field Athlete of the Year), Sally Kipyego (Women’s Track Athlete of the Year) and Brittney Reese (Women’s Field Athlete of the Year).
